Why Devout

Where Christ comes first — by design.

01

Verified by your church.

Not self-attested. Every member is confirmed by their local church — a pastor, elder, or small-group leader vouches for them before they can join.

02

Built for marriage.

Swiping is designed to feel like progress. Devout is designed to actually get you there with events, real conversations, and a community rooted in shared faith.

03

A community, not a feed.

Moments for fellowship. Events for meeting in person. Basecamp to help you grow in your faith.

How it works

More than a dating app. A home for Christ-centered life.

Moments
Available now

A feed that feels like fellowship.

Share what the Lord is doing in your life. Celebrate community wins. Invite others into your week. Because the people in your Moments should be people you’d actually trust.

Events
Available now

Meet in person, on purpose.

Singles mixers. Curated socials. Gatherings in partnership with local churches. Every event is shaped by the Devout team — so the people in the room already share something deeper than a profile prompt.

Connections
Available now

Take it offline, the right way.

Met someone at a mixer? Send a connection request. When both sides accept, messages open. Slow, intentional, and rooted in something real.

Basecamp

Formation, not just connection.

Devout is also a place to grow. Curated teaching on singleness, dating, marriage, and discipleship — drawn from teachers we trust, with original Devout content on the way.

In development

A matching algorithm shaped by faith.

Compatibility built around theology, practice, and life stage — not just preferences. We are building it with pastors, not just engineers. Coming to Devout this year.

Our story

Built in New York, by three.

Two New York City pastors started Devout. In 2025, a third founder joined to help build it.

Jordan Richard — Co-founder · CEO & Elder, Gallery Church

Jordan Richard

Co-founder · CEO & Elder, Gallery Church

Jordan is an elder at Gallery Church in Chelsea and the CEO of Devout. He has spent more than two decades in live television production — a career he still keeps — and brings that same instinct for trust, clarity, and real-time responsibility to the work of building Devout.

Stan Thomas — Co-founder · Pastor

Stan Thomas

Co-founder · Pastor

Stan was born and raised in New York City. He has spent 20 years across nonprofits, church planting, higher education, and tech — helping plant Gallery Church, teaching philosophical ethics at the college level, and directing campus ministry at Columbia. He now leads the City Ministry Program at City to City, and lives in Harlem with his wife and daughter.

Elson Mathew — Co-founder · CTO

Elson Mathew

Co-founder · CTO

Elson is the CTO of Devout, based in Austin. He studied neuroscience at Emory, holds an MS in Cybersecurity and Information Assurance, and has spent his career writing software for the parts of life people don’t want to get wrong — banking at Malauzai and Finastra, healthcare at athenahealth, and now dating at Devout, where he joined in 2025 to lead engineering and product.

Frequently asked

Questions, answered honestly.

Who is Devout for?
Single Christians, 18 and older, living in New York City, who are part of a local church and serious about a Christ-centered relationship. If that is you, you are home.
How does church verification work?
When you sign up, you tell us where you attend. We confirm with a pastor, elder, or small-group leader that you are known and active there. No self-attestation. This is the step that makes Devout different — and it is the step we will not skip.
Is Devout only in New York City?
For now, yes. We believe deeply in place, and in doing one city well before expanding. If you want Devout in your city, tell your pastor — expansion happens through local church partnerships.
I am a pastor. How do I partner with Devout?
Email us at [email protected]. If you lead a congregation in the New York area and want your single members to have a trustworthy place to meet each other, we want to hear from you.

Ready when you are.

Download Devout, tell us where you go to church, and we will handle the rest.
